Kiama tetraploid annual ryegrass is an outstanding new variety for maximising production and profitability. It has an unusually high tiller density and fine leaf for a tetraploid ryegrass, which enables Kiama to recover better after grazing and extend production throughout spring. The late heading date of Kiama allows it to maintain high value feed into late spring, for better stock performance and quality of silage.
Provides large amounts of high-quality feed to maximise profitability
Quick to first grazing and fast regrowth after subsequent grazing
Maintains feed quality later into spring
Allows for greater flexibility when cutting for hay or silage without compromising on quality
Improves tolerance to grazing when soils are wet, and enhances recovery
Extends production in late spring
High feed density, enabling higher animal intake
Short-term pasture
Tetraploid
Late (+20 days)
25-30kg/ha
Sheep, beef, dairy
Grazing, hay, silage
Requires a moderate amount of rainfall/irrigation from late autumn to spring.
