Cooma, New South Wales

Annual & hybrid ryegrass trial – NOW COMPLETE

Positioned in the Monaro region, this site helped farmers determine which ryegrass and forage oats performed best in cold-climate conditions.

About this site

Cooma provided a unique test for pasture persistence in low-temperature, high-altitude conditions. AlfaGen varieties were measured for winter activity, early establishment, and regrowth through frosty periods. These trials supported local graziers with practical data on pasture management in challenging climates.

What we trialled:

Cold-tolerant ryegrass and oat performance
Establishment and regrowth under frost pressure
Feed quality and yield throughout the winter season

Pushing performance in Australia’s coldest paddocks

Cooma’s results demonstrated the reliability of AlfaGen varieties in one of the harshest pasture environments, ensuring consistent growth where it’s needed most.

Come out and take a look for yourself

There’s no better way to understand a seed’s performance than seeing it in the paddock. Our Territory Managers can connect you with upcoming field days and trial site visits, so you can walk the rows, see the results, and have a chat with the people who know the land best.
