Ebor, New South Wales

Forage Trials Australia (FTA) site

Located in northern NSW, this site plays a critical role in ryegrass evaluation, testing both established and new seed genetics under local conditions. Data collected helps identify the strongest breeding lines for future commercial release.

About this site

The Forage Trials Australia (FTA) site at Ebor provides a benchmark for performance in cooler, high-rainfall environments. Multi-year ryegrass trials are planted and monitored to measure persistence, forage yield, and seasonal growth. The results help refine breeding programs and ensure AlfaGen varieties deliver consistent, reliable performance in real grazing conditions.

What we’re trialling:

Multi-year ryegrass trial featuring 22 perennial ryegrass and 4 hybrid ryegrass varieties
Performance and persistence of annual and Italian ryegrasses
Evaluation of red clover, and tall fescue
Data collected helps identify the strongest breeding lines for future commercial release

Where better ryegrass begins

Ebor’s long-term dataset helps shape the future of AlfaGen’s ryegrass programme, identifying elite lines with superior yield and longevity for commercial release.

Come out and take a look for yourself

There’s no better way to understand a seed’s performance than seeing it in the paddock. Our Territory Managers can connect you with upcoming field days and trial site visits, so you can walk the rows, see the results, and have a chat with the people who know the land best.
