This site is replanted each year to assess a wide range of winter forage options for grazing and silage.
In autumn 2026 a different site was selected on the same farm. The paddock is an older hill country pasture that has had low inputs for many years and is currently dominated by low-producing tropical grasses and fireweed.
This trial allows us to evaluate which species and blends will deliver the best winter and spring feed when direct-drilled into such pastures.
The Gloucester site captures the challenges and opportunities of coastal forage production. Each season, new and proven species are compared side by side under local management conditions. This helps coastal producers identify the best options for feed production and silage quality.
By rotating species each year, Gloucester offers real-world insight into how different forages perform in high-rainfall coastal systems.
There’s no better way to understand a seed’s performance than seeing it in the paddock. Our Territory Managers can connect you with upcoming field days and trial site visits, so you can walk the rows, see the results, and have a chat with the people who know the land best.
