Nowra, New South Wales

Forage comparison site

Each year, this site compares multiple species and mixes to guide forage decisions for coastal producers.

About this site

Located on the NSW South Coast, the Nowra site is replanted annually into kikuyu pastures to test establishment, yield, and resilience across a variety of winter forages. It provides valuable insights for farmers managing mixed species systems and coastal soils.

What we’re trialling:

A new site planted every year to compare many options for winter grazing and silage production
Planting into kikuyu pastures in autumn
Annual and Italian ryegrass, hybrid ryegrass, festulolium, oats and barley, chicory and plantain, vetch and multi-species blends

Helping farmers match species to soil

The Nowra site helps producers choose species and blends that integrate seamlessly into coastal pasture rotations.

Come out and take a look for yourself

There’s no better way to understand a seed’s performance than seeing it in the paddock. Our Territory Managers can connect you with upcoming field days and trial site visits, so you can walk the rows, see the results, and have a chat with the people who know the land best.
